The Tortoise and The Hare Race
The race of the tortoise and the hare
This well known children’s story is part of the International Bamboo Cup, Stage 2.
For those who don’t know the story…
Once upon a time there was a hare who was very proud of being fast. He made fun of the slow moving tortoise. The tortoise could not stand the hare showing off and said he would race him. They started racing and the hare quickly picked up speed and left the tortoise behind. During the race, the hare got tired and took a nap. In the meantime, the tortoise passed the sleeping hare and finished the race before the hare woke up again.
So far for the original story. Here is OUR story.
Sompinky, Whispering Bamboo, Altgofur and stefmaus are friends. Sompinky and Whispering Bamboo live in the United States while Altgofur and stefmaus live in Germany. In August 2008, we all met in the States and played the first international bamboo cup which was a croquet game. It was won by whispering bamboo so the actual cup resides in the US right now. It is up for the next contest though. Whispering Bamboo and Sompinky are letting loose a tortoise and stefmaus and Altgofur are letting loose a hare. Each owns a travel bug hotel and sets the own contestant loose there. It is supposed to travel to the hotel on the other side of the ocean. Whichever gets there first, makes the owner the official winner of the cup. The other travel bug (tortoise or hare) eventually get send to the winner together with the official cup.
