Becoming The Driver

Looking for the "View from the Top"

——————————————

This morning, we decided early on to load up and head out so as to get the little one out of the house for a bit.

The day before, I chose to play the part of the driver so that Lee (aka. Sompinky) could take point and enjoy the thrill of hunting for the cache herself.

As we did Saturday, I made the choice for us to go after two caches — one new for both of us and one I have found previous, but Lee had not.

View from the TopDriving into the downtown area of Staunton, I took Lee to the place where should could search out the “View From The Top” … a cache another cacher and I agree is quite fun.

In a very short time and acting on information contained within the cache description and hint, my wife located the cache and returned with a huge smile on her face.

The only thing left to do while she signed the log and returned it to its hiding place was to sit back and enjoy the view.

Looking for the "Jumbo"Our second search was to seek out one I myself had searched for previously in the downtown area, but failed to locate.

This one is called “Jumbo” and is named after the oldest motorised fire truck in Virginia.

I have to say it is well worth looking at as the second time I tried to search for the cache (last week) I was spotted by a firefighter and ushered into the museum for a closer look.

Unlike that time, the firefighters were out on a call so we were free to investigate at will.

I remained with Abi at the mini-van while Lee searched around the cache.

After several minutes, she gave up and returned to give me the chance.

Looking for the "Jumbo"Walking into the courtyard, I glanced around and saw nothing out of place or out of the ordinary.

The difference this time for me verses the previous time is that I have learned to consider the unexpected … and that was just where I found it.
