Stand and Smile @ the Salty Dog!
I have been wanting to do a webcam cache for some time now and knowing I was going to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina meant I would be within caching reach of the “Salty Dog Café WebCam.”
The one thing I did not count on was the fact that to reach the location for this one, you would have to pay a $5.00 admission fee just to be able to drive around that part of the island.
Knowing that money is tight for us, I ended up putting this one and putting it off and still putting it off.
To be honest, I had given up on it when I decided that instead of getting an inexpensive momento of the vacation, I would instead choose to go find this webcam cache and get a smiley instead.
On the second to last day of our vacation, I parked in the lot at the marina where the cam is located and held my breath when I saw workmen crawling all over the place and business closed for renovation.
Does this mean the cache was unavailable?
Not giving up, I ventured up onto the deck and began working my way casually around.
A couple of minutes into my investigation and I saw the sign that spoke of the orange footprints and the monitor above the sign showed a very much active webcam.
Finding the feet on the deck, I planted my own size 11 1/2 footprints over top the orange ones and got my smiley.
